3 Secrets To Business Success

So you’re a small business owner.  The backbone of America; driver of the economy. You pour your life into making your business go.  All of the books have been read, and all of the seminars attended.  So, if you’ve done what everyone says you are supposed to do, why aren’t you enjoying business success?

3 Secrets To Business Success

Here are 3 secrets to success.  Take these three principles to heart and you will thrive.  Without them, you will fail, no matter what else you do.  Ready?  Here you go:

1. It’s Not About Money.

Just sit with that one for a minute. Business is about people. It’s about relationships, no matter what your market is.  If your clients know you see them as people, not dollar signs, they are more likely to be loyal to you. Your reputation benefits, word-of-mouth brings more business in the door.  That sounds like success to me.

2. Treat Your Staff Well.

Again, this isn’t all about money, although a fair wage is important.  Let them know you appreciate them, and value them as people.  Listen to their ideas; give them opportunities to lead.  Invest in their growth and they will invest in yours.  If you do this, your staff will stick with you through thick and, most importantly, thin.

3. Do The Right Thing.  Always.

No cutting corners, no slacking off.  If you succumb to the convention of situational ethics your reputation will suffer.  Be honest and trustworthy.  Never do just the minimum; give your clients what they need.

Business success is just that simple.  Treat people well, be honest and ethical, do good work, and your business will benefit enormously.
