As time goes on, more of your clients will prefer to be contacted by text. As this happens, you’ll need to be sure that you are careful about writing each text just as if it was an email or other form of communication. No matter how informal texting clients may feel, you still need to protect your professional image.

4 Tips for Texting Clients Properly (Part 2)

Here are some tips for texting clients properly.

  • If a client calls you, do not text them back. Return their call with a call. If they wanted a text from you, they would have texted you.
  • Important things, such as meeting times, should not be done in texts. You would hate to miss a meeting if someone didn’t get the text. Important things like this should always be done over the phone so nobody misses it.
  • The same can be said for bad news. Bad news should never be sent in a text. It should always be done in person or over the phone.
  • Don’t put your name at the end of every text automatically. Though it can be nice to have your name at the end of your texts, if you are sending multiple texts to one person, it can get annoying to the recipient.
It is important that you treat each text properly and make phone calls when necessary. When a person calls you, it is important that you return their phone call instead of just texting them. Important things and bad news need to be done over the phone, if not in person. Texting clients has a time and a place, even in business.
