10 Tips to Generate More Traffic on Your Website

If your business is suffering from a lack of traffic on your website (i.e.: your company is showing up somewhere OTHER than on page 1 of the search engines), here are 10 tips to help you generate more traffic by investing a few minutes on search engine optimization (SEO) and content marketing:

10 tips to generate traffic on your website

1. Fix your keywords

Think like your prospective clients/customers. What keywords and key phrases would they type in to find your company? Though some people still believe that successful SEO requires focusing on one keyword per page, in order to maximize your chances for a top search rank, make sure that your page title, page description and page content is full of the primary keywords and key phrases that are relevant to your business.

2. Create a blog

There’s no better way to ensure traffic and improved search rank than creating a company blog. Blogs are usually indexed very fast and will give you a chance to work with your keywords. Posting about interesting subjects, your website will be visited by users wanting to learn more about your topic. And once they visit this section of the company website, its other categories are just a click away.

3. Focus on headlines

Great headlines are essential – they’re the first thing people will see when you share your posts on social media and in search results. They should be attractive, spark the interest of users and clearly signal what the benefits of reading your post are – only these headlines will be high-converting and worth your time.

4. Provide rich content

Don’t post low-quality content – it can only hurt your brand. Invite top bloggers or influencers to share their expertise on your blog. This will give you additional exposure. For SEO reasons you should include links to other relevant posts on your blog that your readers might find useful. This will increase your time-on-site, referral traffic and conversion rates.

5. Promote your blog posts

Share your posts on social media, as well as on websites like Reddit. When you mention an influencer in your post, make sure to mention them in your tweets (@username). Optimize your images – add post titles and URLs to achieve a great effect when someone pins or shares them.

6. Address a niche

If you want your company blog and website to be the top go-to resource for your audience, you need to be specific. Don’t post about general or unrelated subjects, always have a specific audience in mind. Addressing a niche can only help you gain recognition and build a strong online community of potential brand evangelists.

7. Create a Facebook group

To add value to the online community surrounding your niche, it’s a great idea to create a Facebook group where users can ask questions and get support. When relevant, you can point them to your website’s content.

8. Guest post on relevant platforms

If you’re considering guest blogging, make sure to choose platforms and media that are really relevant to your niche and offer high-quality content.

9. Consider YouTube

There’s no doubt about it – YouTube is the social platform that drives most engaged traffic. Average 2.99 pages per visit are impressive. Why not use it to your advantage?

10. Post frequently

The authority on content optimization and metrics, Neil Patel of KISSmetrics and QuickSprout, claims that not only quality but also quantity of the posts is important. Just by adding one more post per week – posting 6 times, instead of 5 times a week – he managed to increase his blog traffic by 18.6%.

Driving traffic to a company website is a complex task, but it’s well worth the effort. The company receives more online exposure and can use it to communicate specific brand messages, converting more leads into actual sales.
