With more than 2.56 million apps available on Google Play and 1.85 million apps available for iOS users, any new app looking for its place on the market is facing fierce competition.

The number of mobile app downloads is on the constant rise, as well as the app-store consumer spending, which is expected to reach $157 billion worldwide by 2022.
However, to grab your piece of the mobile app market cake, your app needs to stand out from all the others, and capture the attention of your potential users.
Even though perfect design and great UX are vital for the success of your app, it’s on your marketing campaign to spark the interest in your potential customers, and direct them to download it from the store.
Here are a few great ideas for better mobile app marketing.

1. Make Good Use of Your Mobile Website

Some business owners believe that a mobile website will prevent users from downloading the mobile app, but this doesn’t have to be the case.

As a matter of fact, optimizing your website for fast and seamless mobile performance is one of the basic steps you need to take to successfully promote your new app.

A well-designed and optimized mobile site is a great way to introduce your brand to the user for the first time, and if your visitors happen to like the content you provide them with, they will gradually move on to your app, especially if the app offers features that they can’t find on the website.

2. App Store Optimization

More than half of your downloads will come directly from the store, so your app store page should be superbly crafted in order to boost your rankings and visibility, and attract potential users. Here are a few tips on how to make your app rank better:

  • The title should be readable and include a keyword with the heaviest traffic;
  • Make your description of the app clear and concise;
  • Stress which problems the app helps your customers solve;
  • Use keywords in the description;
  • Choose screenshots of the features carefully, and make sure they showcase the benefits of your app;
  • Design a catchy, simple, and minimalistic icon which will also grasp the essence of your app.

3. Count It Down

People are visual beings, so all types of visual aids – teasers, countdowns and sneak peeks will help you move them from “interested in” to “excited about” your app.

You can also think about other ways to boost the engagement of your potential users, and get them to download your app – by running various contests and giveaways before and after the launch of the app.

4. Prepare Your Press Kit and Launch Materials

For the launch day of your app, you need to have some press kit and launch materials ready.

Prepare both digital and physical press kits for different types of media, and be sure to send them out to everyone you’ve included on your list: bloggers and influencers, media groups, and other relevant individuals and groups that might benefit from the promotion.

5. Excellent Customer Support

Stats show that 21% of consumers abandon apps after the very first use. If you want to keep them, try to offer them timely and adequate customer support, right on the app.

One of the most cost-effective ways to offer top-notch support within your app is by implementing a conversational AI platform. That way, you’ll offer your users always available help, coming in the form of a chatbot that interacts in a human-like manner and can successfully solve most of their problems.

Ensure that your customer support button is easy to spot so that they can get their answers easily, whenever they need help. Such support will give your users plenty of reasons to come back.

6. Promote Your App With a Video

Studies show that where your user can choose between text and video to get information on a product or service they are interested in, 72% of the users opt for the video.

Use the popularity of this format to your advantage, and promote your new app with a video that will:

  • show your users/customers that you understand their problem,
  • offer them a simple and intuitive explanation of your solution,
  • give your users/customers a clear call-to-action and ask them to download the app.

Share the video on your social media channels, but make it a part of your landing page too.

7. Use Your Blog

Your app marketing campaign starts while your app is still in the developing phase, so blogging about it and all the useful features it offers is a great way to begin your promotion.

Make your blog posts relevant and valuable to your potential users so that they can truly engage with the content you provide. Furthermore, make sure your blog posts are heavily promoted on your social media channels, as well as optimized for search engines so that they can attract more qualified leads.

8. Get Reviews

Reviews are very important for the success and the promotion of your app. No matter how great the description of your app in the store is, your potential users will most probably read reviews before they download the app.
Statistics show that 77% of customers would leave a review if they’re asked, so incentivize your most satisfied users to share their impressions.

Make sure you show them that you value their time and effort by making a reviewing procedure quick and easy.

An effective app marketing strategy can decide whether your mobile app will be a success or failure, so approach it strategically, from the very beginning of your app development.
