We regularly see many companies who make the mistake of jumping into social media marketing without a definite business strategy or clear understanding of the best sites for promoting their business.

To have a successful social media marketing campaign you need to leverage social media with your own financial investment and a workable plan of action. Here are 3 tips that can help ensure your success.

Identify and Listen to Your Target Market

To be successful in social media marketing, you need to have the proper scope. There are many social media sites on the Internet; you shouldn’t waste your resources joining all of them. Just identify those sites where most of your customers are, and focus on these to the exclusion of the many other options.

Currently some of the best sites to focus your resources are:

  1. Facebook (Business pages)
  2. LinkedIn
  3. Google Plus
  4. Twitter
  5. Pinterest

Join the Conversation

You need to keep in constant contact with prospects and potential clients. When you read conversations by these folks, you are likely to hear many things that you could use to make your company offerings more appealing. Take the step and engage with them offering ideas, help, and possible resources.

For example, we recommend that you join some of the various discussion groups on LinkedIn where your prospects and potential clients hang out and share ideas. Join the conversation when you can, and answer questions or connect with people who may benefit from your ideas.

Give

Be sure to always give prospects and potential clients ideas and information that they want. Give them something to think about. This means that you need to be regularly active on your social media pages. Post photos and write blogs at least weekly to ensure that your page is active and current. The more content that you post on your social media sites, the more prospects and clients you will be able to reach. This sort of regular activity will increase your visibility and consequently, your sales volume.

As a business owner, you’re probably always looking for ways to increase sales and revenue. Sometimes you might easily scale your business up, while other times you need to get clever to push your business growth forward.

Today, we are going to explore 5 ideas to help you grow your business. However, as with any new business promotion idea, it’s a good idea to remember. . .

The Vector Principle.

  1. You can expand the sales of existing services or products to new customers and clients, or
  2. You can expand your product and service offerings to existing customers and clients.
  3. However, if you offer new products and services to new prospects, you’ll run into all the problems associated with starting a new business.

You’ve been warned <g>. Now, let’s take a look at some ideas for expanding your business:

A) Expand your offering of products or services.

If you own a resume service, you might grow revenue by offering information products, ebooks, and video training courses. You may be able to simply reformat your existing information for various media and thereby increase sales.

Or if you sell a physical product, you could offer training classes on how to use the product, or offer a service related to it.

B) Expand your customer base through partnerships.

An example would be a public relations or marketing firm forming a strategic alliance with a design company to begin offering graphics and websites.

Another would be if you owned a carpet cleaning business and you investigated partnering with a maid service. You could develop a relationship where you would provide the carpet cleaning for all of the houses where the maid service performed work.

C) Offer service agreements to support the products and services that you sell.

A design firm that creates client websites could offer a service contract or agreement that generates additional income and supports their customers better. They could become the one stop shop for new purchases and for service of existing websites.

D) Offer an referral incentive program.

An example of this would be a car dealership that offers a car buyer a $250 check if they refer any of their friends to purchase a new car from their dealership. This incentive encourages current customers to refer their friends and their network to become new customers of yours. This is an effective way to bolster sales.

E) Pick up the phone.

Building your business can be as simple as letting your existing customers know that you’re now offering new products or services, or, if you’re the hardy type that recognizes that sales is a simply numbers game, picking up the phone and calling a list of new prospects to offer them your existing products and services.

Staying in touch by phone works! In today’s market, we are all inundated with email solicitations. A prospect once told me over lunch that the main reason that he was seeing me instead of the dozens of others seeking his business, was that I called him on the phone instead of just relying on email promotions. Perhaps this is a good point for all of us to remember.

While a content rich website and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are certainly very important, when you’re trying to build your brand online including a smart social media strategy is a must!

Most people who aspire to success on the internet mistakenly believe that all they have to do is put up a website and fill it with pages that contain just the right percentage of particular keywords and keyword phrases. They consider this their contribution to SEO and that doing this alone will push their site to the top of the search engine lists. However, it’s critical that you include a social media strategy in the mix, if you’re to succeed.

When using social media as a marketing tool, it’s not enough to just create lots of posts on your social media and/or blog pages. In fact, it’s more effective to create fewer posts that are of higher value in terms of content. When people read social media posts they’re really looking for useful information, just like when they visit your website. The difference is, social media posts are designed to entice readers to visit the poster’s website – that’s what the intention should be anyway. So your social media strategy should be to provide your readers with useful, relevant, well written posts. By doing that, you’ll not only get them to visit your website, they’ll very likely tell their friends about it.

Here are 4 tips for creating quality social media posts:

  1. Write in your own “voice”. In other words, write with the same tone as when you speak. If you tend to speak casually, as most people do, you should write with a casual tone. If you speak with a more formal tone, write that way. By writing in your own voice, you’ll feel more comfortable and confident, and that feeling will come through in the tone of your posts.
  2. Write from real experience – Either yours or someone else’s. If you have firsthand knowledge and expertise on a given topic, use that. If not, thoroughly research the topic you’re writing about, then present it in your own words.
  3. Cite reference material. This ads additional levels of credibility to your post content. Your readers will appreciate the fact that you did some research on the topic, and they’ll feel as though they won’t have to.
  4. Contact The Sherwood Group or call +1-661-287-0017 for more information on how to build your brand using social media.

Building your brand by employing a smart social media strategy doesn’t have to be difficult. In fact it can be fairly easy, if done properly. Commit to the tips I’ve outlined above and discover how easy it can be.
